The NLR City Council voted tonight to delay the dates of an ordinance (passed at the previous council meeting) regarding the Department's Canada Goose Population Reduction Program. The program was scheduled for Dec 20-22, 2011 and may now be rescheduled for a later date. Participants chosen by lottery to participate in this program will still need to attend the scheduled orientation being held this Tuesday and Thursday evening in the event the program is rescheduled.
The Mayor is requesting persons with non-lethal recommendations for population control and management to present their proposals and costs to the City Clerk's office no later than noon on Thursday, December 15, 2011. The NLR City Council approved the North Little Rock Parks and Recreation Department's request seeking permission allow the discharge of firearms within the city limits as part of an over all plan to reduce the goose population in Burns Park December 20-22. Application deadline was Monday, December 5, 2011 to participate in this program. (updated Dec. 6, 2011)
2011 Holiday Lights in Burns Park

The ninth annual “Holiday Lights in Burns Park” is scheduled for November 28 through December 30. Families will be able to enjoy holiday lights in a drive through setting along Funland Drive. Admission will be $5 per car, $10 per multi-passenger van or $20 per motor coach. Over 50 displays will be set-up along Funland Drive beginning at the Softball Complex and continuing down Funland Drive ending at Military Drive. On Saturday, December 3, 2011 starting at 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm The Annual Dashin' Thru the Lights will be held. So get up, Get Out and run, or walk, or stroll your way through the Holiday Lights. The Course is 0.9 miles in length, one-way, and you are welcome to complete the course as many times as you like during the event. Wheelchairs and Strollers are welcome at any time during the event. Leashed pets will be welcome after 5:15 pm. Parking available at the Softball Complex - shuttles will be available to return participants from the end of the lights display to the softball complex, if needed. To Register: Fill out a registration Form at the Burns Park Softball Complex after 4:00 pm on December 3rd. The cost of this event is $5 per person or $10 per family
Holiday Lights Festival

On Saturday, December 10, 2011 starting at 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm at The Burns Park Softball Complex Parking Area the Annual Holiday Lights Festival will be held. Children and Adults of all ages are invited to participate in various games, play with new toys and participate in activites based on the upcoming Holiday Season. Photo opportunities available with Santa and Dasher. This event is free to the public.
Burns Park Fall Festival

This is a family friendly event with games and activities based on the upcoming fall season, feautring a ride on the haunted express and various carnival rides. There is a $5 addmission fee to enter the park. All rides, candy and games are free with paid addmission fee. The city of North Little Rock is hoping to make improvements to Burns and Sherman parks with the help of a federal grant the parks department is seeking.

On Saturday, October 8, 2011 starting at 11:00 am until 2:00 pm. The C.A.M.S. Car Club and North Little Rock Parks and Recreation will host a Show and Shine Car Show in the Park. All participants will receive a free Hamburger .The location is in Burns Park at the Funland small pavillion. Bring out your old cars and enjoy this free event.
