What is geocaching?

Geocaching is an entertaining adventure game for GPS users. Participating in a cache hunt is a good way to take advantage of the wonderful features and capability of a GPS unit. The basic idea is to have individuals and organizations set up caches all over the world and share the locations of these caches on the internet. GPS users can then use the location coordinates to find the caches. Once found, a cache may provide the visitor with a wide variety of rewards. All the visitor is asked to do is if they get something they should try to leave something for the cache.

Where can I get more information about geocaching?

How can I get involved in geocaching?

The easiest way to get involved in geocaching is to attend a geocaching event.  There are many posted at the web sites above.

The 2nd Annual Burns Park Cache Bash will be held April 26, 2008 at Burns Park Pavilion #10 from 11-2.  More information is available here.

The First Ever Burns Park Cache Bash was held April 28, 2007 from 11-3 at the John Irvin Pavilion in Burns Park.  (event summary)

Are there geocaches in NLR Parks?

Yes.  There are more than 50 geocaches in and around NLR Parks with more being added.  Burns Park has over 40 geocaches alone.
