Skills Camp - August 9-13
North
Little Rock Parks and Recreation wants to help your child grow to become a
strong independent adult.
Like a sapling and a tree, youth
require encouragement, nourishment and skills to grow into a strong well
rooted adult.
It is NLRPR’s goal to offer the youth
of North Little Rock and surrounding communities this chance by providing
the necessary encouragement, skills and nourishment during the summer
months through the NLRPR Teen Summer Activities Program (SAPling). Your child
will have the opportunity to grow physically and emotionally.
Youth going into
the 7th thru 9th grades in the Fall
of 2010 will have
the occasion to participate daily in fun and safe recreation activities
such as sports, fitness, arts, humanities and life skills. Seven
field trips will be taken and entrance fees are included in the cost of
the session. Additional field trips may be taken and are
not included in the cost of the program.
Teen SAPling participants start and end each day at their respective
community center. During the major part of the camp day, the Teen
SAPling participants are transported away from the centers and into the
community for their activities. Lunch is available through the Summer
Food Service Program (SFSP), however a couple of days during the week,
the participants are allowed to eat at a local restaurant at their own
expense or they may bring their lunch or we will still provide lunch
through the SFSP.
This program
participates in the USDA Summer Food Program
for both free breakfast and lunch during Sessions 1, 2, and 3 (June 14 -
August 6). The first week of Session 1, participants will need to
bring their own lunch.
A limited number of slots are available at each center.
SAPling is not a certified DHS daycare.
